SWCF Award 2023

As part of the forum, the swisswaterclimate association will present the SWCF2023 Award worth CHF 10,000. The project entries will be evaluated in terms of their innovation, ecological, social and financial sustainability as well as the appearance and persuasiveness of the project team. The SWCF2023 Award Pitch is open to all private individuals and organisations that are based in Switzerland and would like to implement a project in Switzerland. The thematic connection to the SWCF2023 focus “Climate. Water. Food. Innovating the nutrition of tomorrow” must be clearly evident. The deadline for submission is 11 June 2023.

Short Description:

The Swiss Water & Climate Forum is a larger-scale project incubator to promote climate readiness in Switzerland. The Forum offers a unique and interactive format for the pioneers of a more sustainable society. SWCF 2023 focuses on the theme “Climate – Water – Food. Innovating the nutrition of tomorrow.” Against this backdrop, participants can contribute their own ideas during the forum, forge new partnerships and develop new, innovative solutions together.

As part of the forum, the swisswaterclimate association will present the SWCF2023 Award worth CHF 10,000. The prize will go to the project team with the most promising project idea and the most convincing pitch. The criteria innovation, ecological, social and financial sustainability as well as appearance and persuasiveness of the project team count.

Target group:

All private individuals and organizations that are based in Switzerland and would like to implement a project in Switzerland can apply for the SWCF2023 Award Pitch. These can be institutions from the private sector, the public sector, civil society or research. A clear relation to the event topic must be demonstrated. Participants must have very good German or English language skills in order to be able to convincingly present their project in a pitch in one of the two languages at the Forum.

Award Criteria Pre-selection & Participation in SWCF2023:

The following requirements must be met in order to apply for the SWCF2023 Award:

  • Timely submission (submission deadline: June 11, 2023).
  • Completeness of subimission (form, video)
  • Organization/individual needs to be based in Switzerland or the implementation of the project idea needs to be in Switzerland.
  • Clear reference to the event topic as well as reference to sustainable development topics (definition according to https://www.eda.admin.ch/agenda2030/en/home/agenda-2030/die-17-ziele-fuer-eine-nachhaltige-entwicklung.html)
  • A clear vision for a long-term, self-supporting and financially viable project structure. This can be achieved, for example, by drafting a business model, a long-term financing strategy or similar.
  • Very good German or English language skills as well as good rhetorical skills.

Submitting an application does not entitle the applicant to participate in the Forum and/or pitching event.

If the application is accepted, the applicant may attend the pitching event at SWCF2023 free of charge (September 8 in the afternoon). Attendance at the Forum as a whole (September 7-8) is encouraged, but not required. The entrance fee for participation in the entire forum must be paid by the applicant.

Award Process SWCF2023 finalists

At the Forum, the selected finalists will present their project in a short pitch. They will compete against the project teams from the SWCF focus groups. The pitch can be given in German or English. The SWCF2023 Award will be selected by audience voting.

A mandatory basic structure for the pitch will be provided by the SWCF organization. The design can be chosen by the participants themselves.

SWCF2023 Award:

The SWCF2023 Award is endowed with CHF 10’000. The funds must be used for the implementation of the presented project.
